No internet yet

Hi there,
It's Lynn again. Lori called this morning and all is well in Ekat. They moved into their new flat but the internet isn't working. They're hoping to have it fixed on Sunday and then Lori will be able to keep us updated. Her phone is not working either so communication has been difficult.
They've seen the girls twice and Katy has really enjoyed playing with her sisters. She's cried when she's had to leave them. Lori says they're very healthy and happy. Courtney is strong willed and "like a mini Katy" and Camryn is more quiet this time.
They have two more "required" visits before court. The judge returns on Monday, 9/15, and Olga feels that the earliest possible court date would be 9/23.
Hopefully, the next time you check back, Lori will be hooked to the internet and telling us all about the girls and the trip!

They've arrived safely!

Hi all, this is Lori's sister Lynn.  Received word this evening that Lori, Katy and Angela have arrived safely in Ekat.  They're in a flat without email for a couple days and will update in Lori's words, by the end of the week.  Katy was a great little traveler and they didn't experience any out of the ordinary adventures.  Lori will write more when she can.

The day has finally arrived!

It has been a whirlwind of a weekend saying goodbye to everyone and trying to pack as much as possible in as few bags as possible.  Last night was the third and worst night of disturbed sleep and I am exhausted before our trip even begins!  I probably slept 3 hours - I mostly just laid there thinking of all the little things I need to remember to do today, about seeing the girls and about the court appearance which we'll hopefully get!  I'm really hopeful that we will all sleep on the plane tonight - I'm pretty sure Katy will but I rarely do.  I'll be a walking zombie by the time we get to Ekat if I don't.

I feel like we've got enough to keep Katy happy, entertained and curious on the planes.  She's so excited about going.  Yesterday she woke up asking if we were going to Russia today - when I told her that it was tomorrow she said "oh mannnn"!  It was really cute.  She woke up around 5AM today ready to go.  She knew it was the day without having to ask.  Her only request so far this morning is that we take her Dora pillowcase on the plane which is now the next little thing to do after signing off here.

Next blog will be from Ekat - hopefully from a nice flat with good internet access!  If it takes a while then it's only because I haven't figured the system out but I will eventually.

As excited I am at seeing the girls and the prospect of bringing them home, it has a small bittersweet side as well.  My life with Katy will change a lot - for the better in many ways, but it will be different.  We are doing this together which has really helped strengthen our bond and we are going to help the girls with their transition together too.   I know she will be fine but I will miss the ease of our time together.  But, it will all be for the good for her, the girls and for me, and hopefully, the girls will not have too difficult of a time with the separation and the new attachments.  I think Katy will be very helpful with that as will the girls be for each other.

Okay then . . . I'll write soon from Ekat!  Thanks everybody for all your help in getting us this far!
